My Proudest Moment
The journey had come to an end, and goodbyes had to be said. After two years and a half in the States, it was time to get back home. My teacher and classmates promised me to organize a bye-bye party on the last day of school. I was so excited and before I knew I was there standing in the classroom. At that moment; when I saw my friends gathering around me, holding the cake and telling me touching words that showed love and sincerity; I suddenly remembered my first day in Troy when I slapped the backyard door angrily, getting into the kitchen and complaining to my mom that no one wanted to be friends with me. I realized that everything can change if we just give people and ourselves some time.
We took lots of pictures, which I still have in my secret box, and they wrote bye-bye cards for me. In there eyes, I could see clearly many of the times we spent together at school or in the neighborhood as most of them were my neighbors as well. Looking at Courtney reminded me of the P. E. lessons when we used to sit on the gym’s ground and sing the famous ‘Complicated’ by ‘Avril Lavigne’. I can recall that song very well till this very moment. Seeing Ryan poking William reminded me when Mrs. Brown said to my mom: “Dalia had her dues with Ryan already and I will change her seat to give her a break!”. Watching Alicia, Carissa and David whispering reminded me of the days the four of us spent together in the after school program at the playground throwing jokes or even snowballs at one another. I also remembered the Community Center where we gathered for several birthday parties. I even still have the pictures of the board on which they all wrote ‘Happy Birthday Dalia’ in different languages: Korean, Japanese, French, English, and Spanish. Despite the fact that we spent a relatively short time together, we got to know and love each other more than anyone could ever imagine. This moment was so special. Everything I did with my friends and teachers passed through my mind. We spent the whole day recalling memories and hanging around for the last time. It felt bad to know that everything came to an end, but at the same time I was so proud to know that people love me, care about me and miss me when I am gone.
The day was over. I was on the plane heading to Egypt when I realized that yesterday had the proudest moment of my life so far. That period of time living abroad was very rich educationally and socially as I had the chance to know people from a variety of races and cultures. But since I am still thirteen, I believe that my proudest moment is still yet to come. I try to follow my dreams and live everyday like it is my last since tomorrow is not promised to anyone. My dream is to change the world into a better place to live. I try to take one step at a time to make what’s in my mind come true, so… wish me good luck!

Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein- known as Frankenstein- is an imaginary character by a British girl called Mary Shelley. She began writing it when she was only nineteen years old. The story is horror, science fiction and gothic (a combination of horror and romance, first done by Horace Walpole). The book was published on January the first in 1818. The character of Frankenstein had lots of complicated and difficult emotions but when it was dramatized, they didn’t show these emotions and simplified them so people can understand them easily. Frankenstein is the eldest child in his family. He lives a great childhood with a happy family. He is very sensitive, intelligent and passionate about his interests and he gets interested in knowing about the creature’s life. When Victor was at college in Ingolstadt, he creates a being from scavenged and gives it life. But that being turns out to be evil and it destroys Victor’s life by killing all Victor’s loves. So, Victor keeps chasing him to take revenge until he reaches to the Arctic Ocean but he dies in Walton’s ship before he reaches the monster.
I am going to study this story in school this year. It seems different and weird but actually I am not that curious to know about it because I think that no one can surpass God. What do you think?

The Best Teacher of All Times!
Through all these years of education, changing from one school to another, I have to admit I never loved a teacher as much as Mrs. Karen Brown. She taught me English in grade 2, it seems a long time ago, but yet I can remember her very well. She was about fifty five at the time with white hair, brown glasses, a round face and small eyes. I really thought she looked great. Mrs. Brown didn’t only teach us English but she made us learn about real life. I remember her saying, “When I grow up, sit on my rocking chair in my living room and turn on the news, I don’t want to watch any of you caught as a gangster, I want to see my kids scientists, writers or even Nobel winners.”. She always called us her kids. We really felt that she was our mother. Her personality was amazing. She had everything good you can imagine, she was kind, helpful, sweet, fair, caring, encouraging, etc… I always loved reading time because she read the story so good. We all lived the story as if it was a film on T.V. Every time I think of my future dreams, I remember her and try to work hard so one day when she opens the news, she sees me like Oprah or Shakespear because I want to make her proud of me like she made me grateful to meet some one like her in a life time!

What is a Mini-Saga?
A mini-saga is a short story, invented by Brian Aldiss. There are two rules you have to follow when writing a mini-saga: the story must NEVER be more or less than 50 words-exactly 50 with adding the ‘a’ and all the prepositions- and the title can be no longer than 15 words. Our English teacher asked us to write one, so here is what I wrote………..
A Lonely Night in Bed
She was in bed trying to sleep. But she couldn’t. Voices were passing through her ears. She didn’t know where they were from. Footsteps were coming closer and closer. It was dark, but suddenly the lights of her room were on.
All her friends and family said:
“Happy Birthday Mary!”.
I also wanted to share with you some of the mini-sagas I like.
A Moment in Venice
They collided in St Mark’s Square.
As they apologised, in their different languages, he sensed that something had passed between them.
His heart had been touched.
In that second something almost magical had occurred.
He watched her vanish amongst the gathering of people and pigeons.
She had stolen his wallet.
Paul Talman
I simply love this mini-saga because of many different things. First of all there is that twist, at the beginning you feel that this is a romantic story and they may even ”get married”! But when you come to read the last sentence everything turns upside down and it’s kind of funny. Paul Talman really gives that atmosphere when you read the mini-saga by using words such as collided, sensed, heart, touched, magical, vanish and pigeons that contribute to the elements that give us the first that it’s a love story. He also used the active voice for the sake of clarity which made things clearer to the reader and set him in the mood.
Here is another mini-saga by Margaret Hodgson.
The Canal Path Murders
She could hear the sound of heavy footsteps as she hurried down the lonely canal path after dark. A man’s hand grabbed roughly at her sleeve and she spun round, her legs weak with fear. He was holding a gun and stared stupidly at her.
”You dropped this,” he said.
At the first sight when you read the title, you get curious to know about this mysterious story. When you go on reading, you start to think that the woman is the victim and she may be killed or kidnapped. But when you finish reading, everything changes and it seems that she is not the victim but she is a murderer! Mini-sagas don’t have to build such a twist, but it gives a taste to the story. If you still didn’t get it, here are some advices which will help you get it right..
- First write a draft. Don’t think much about exactly 50 words but estimate how many lines of writing could make 50 words.
- Focus carefully on particular phrases and words. Try to add stuff that catch and hook the reader by using the active and passive voice and choosing vocabulary carefully and make sure you use variety of sentences.
- Now you make sure you wrote 50 words exactly.
- Finally, try to work out a hooking title to your mini-saga.
You will not get it perfect at the first time, just keep trying. It’s a different kind of writing which I love….What about you?

Some Art Tips.
During my art classes, I learned some very useful tips so I decided to share them with you. They could really help you do drawings-which you see hard and difficult-in a very easy a simple way. First of all, when you come to draw a portrait, you sometimes get confused and don’t control the spaces between each part of the face. So here is a way to get it perfect. The first thing you begin with is drawing an ”I” letter from the very top of the page to the very bottom.
Then you divide it into sections. The first section -which is less than 1|4 of the ”I” letter- is for the hair. After that comes the forehead and the eyebrows. This section is bigger than the first section with about 3 cm. The next section is for the eyes and the nose. It’s the largest section in the portait. It’s size is equal to both the first and the second section together. Here is two tips that can really help you. At the end of the eye from inside draw aline down and that is where the nose should end. Also at the end of your iris from inside you draw a line and that is where your lips should end. Isn’t that much more easier! So, after this section we have the lips which is the smallest part in the face. Make sure you leave some space above it. And finally comes the chin. This part is equal to the hair section. If you got confused, take a look at this picture to make it clearer. After you get these steps right, start to draw your details and you’ll find it great!

Back To School!
For six years I have been studying in the national system but this year I joined the international educational programme for IGCSE. I found lots of advantages here like it depends on your critical thinking, improves your skills, improves your language and has a very organized system. One of the subjects which they concentrate on is the library lesson . In the national system , library lesson is all about going to the library ,choosing a book ,and trying to read it, but here we began with knowing the index, the author, the introduction,….etc, the next lesson we practiced on the difference between written facts and opinions. I think that’s what’s meant by reading . Knowing what’s the main parts in any book and deciding what’s the author’s point of view and then criticising it positively or negatively. I think one of our major cultural problems in reading is taking any written material for granted as if it’s Qur’an. Hopefully, I will have happier time studying and wish you all the same!!

Dreaming.

Every person has his own way of dreaming and I believe that dreaming has many effects on the dreamer. One of these effects is letting the dreamer picture the future and set his goals. It also helps you to be wary of any obstacle that could meet you sooner or later in your career. I also think that inventors did all these inventions by two things. First they thought of what people need or what can help people in their daily life and dreaming or imagining how can they do it and make it reality. Some people make their living by using their imagination machines. Those are such as cartoon directors and cartoon designers.
As the way of dreaming differs from one person to another it also differs from one age to another as well. Most of the kids always dream of going to a magical land full of chocolate or whatever they like or dreaming of playing and having fun 24/7. For most teens thay dream of being someone important in life and make adults respect them and admire what they do. Adults dream of living happily and seeing their kids the best of all.
At the end we will always dream, and who knows maybe one day our dreams will come true!

Education.

In my opinion, education is one of the main needs in our life. It helps one when he goes to another country or when he communicates with others. In fact, education helps the person to interact and live a successful life. To develop the education process we have to introduce more subjects like new foreign languages. We also have to hold meetings on the importance of education in our world. We can also give the kids a chance to raise their voices up and say their opinions with confidence and let poor people sit on desks everyday like others. That is how we can develop education and build great personalities so no one will be ever illiterate in our country. By doing so we will give the new generations a better future.
Be A Green!
Why do people say to hunters ”don’t kill animals?” Did you ever ask, why? I believe that animals have a very important role in the natural food chain and ecological balance. When hunters killed so many pandas, they became in danger of extinction and therefore animals like lions and tigers which feed on pandas did not find their natural food source and they became in danger, too. If you think of any food chain and you take out one member of (The GREEN’S) I advice you to join us to save mother earth!!!
Stuck In The Elevator!
On the 30th floor of a very prestigious building in a very prestigious neighborhood, all the neighbors can hear the screaming of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel having one of their silly fights again….! Today it seems that they both had enough. “That’s it …..I can’t take it any more …I want a divorce”. A few minutes passed after Mrs. Daniel had said that and the answer from her husband was, ” I’m ready for it”. They agreed on separating and living in different apartments. They both packed up their bags quietly. They went down the elevator. They were standing there back to back, thinking of what they have been through for the last 3 years of their marriage.Suddenly the elevator stopped on the 15th floor. They turned around looking to each other and trying to understand what happened. Mrs. Daniel pressed many buttons to let the elevator up or down. But there was no good. They tried many ideas to get out but none of them worked. She panicked and was scared. Her husband calmed her down and they both sat on the elevator’s floor. She remembered many of the good moments of their life together and he remembered their first date. They looked at each other and realized that their happiness can’t be achieved by a divorce. After a while of romantic feelings passing by their hearts. The elevator moved again but this time they didn’t push the “G” button, they both put their pointers on the ”30th” button…..!!
